Foodventures

Okay I'm going to go backwards here, because the last day wins.

First I want to say that I can't believe I was lucky enough to experience Southeast Asian hospitality (which Erica explained to me). My friend Bryan, who was also in town for Ivana's wedding, had quite a few Singaporean friends who cleared their weekends to show us around. And that pretty much means "take guests to eat the entire city". So here's everything we ate in ONE day:

Brunch
Kaya toast: toast with butter and special kaya jam made with coconut milk and egg, dipped in "half-boiled" (but actually almost completely raw) eggs mixed with duck soy sauce and pepper

and this fish ball noodle thing I forgot to take a picture of.

Lunch
Wonton noodles

 Fried banana

Minced meat noodles, soup and dry

This is how we do at a Singapore hawker center
Desserts: durian pandan cake, mango wrap, sticky rice balls, shaved ice (sesame, mango, peanut)

A short nap later...

Dinner

Didn't get the name of this

 Gai choy?

 Lime juice

Singapore noodles with fried quail eggs

 Black pepper crab

Chili crab (not pictured - friend golden mantou used to dip in the most delicious sauce)

Something special battered wings

 Our table spread

Desserts: different types of pratas!

So that's all in one day. Singapore you have spoiled my belly well :)

Other awesome things I tried on my own:

Murtabak (deer, chicken, beef)

Me taking a Selfie of my Selfie coffee!! (That's all edible foam, not plastic :) my face was delicious)

Teh Tarik

Otak otak

Grilled quail

Shark fin soup

Nasi lemak

Prawn noodle soup

Hainanese Chicken rice

At this rate my 20000 steps a day will no longer counter the power of Singaporean food...
